Qualifications and experience of the registered manager

Dylan has been in leadership and management roles for over 5 years and has extensive residential experience working with children, young people. Dylan has a wide range of experience of working with Children and Young people who have mental health, emotional and behavioural challenges and those that exhibit challenging behaviour and substance misuse. Dylan is passionate about achieving positive outcomes for children and young people, enjoys staff development and is always looking for ways to improve services.. Dylan’s management style is very supportive to staff, with a strong aim of retaining the team and working to provide continuity and stability to the young people we work with whilst keeping them safe.

Vision Statement of the Manager for the Home

“As a manager I intend to be hands- on and transparent in supporting my team to achieve the best/positive outcomes for each individual young person. I ensure my team has clear structure, strategies evidenced and plans in place on how to achieve for each young person. A confident and multi-agency working approach will encourage reflection on the home’s practices and how they achieve the outcomes that are identified in order for the young people to have a fulfilling and diverse home to live in. Via monthly meetings with my staff team we would work towards planning and reviewing what can be done better and what is working well.

After careful matching, it must be identified that SunnyBank can meet the young person’s needs. From the first point of contact with the young person the team will approach the young person in a professional manner and begin building a positive relationship with them. We will ensure the young person feels safe, comfortable and welcomed into a home where they will be valued, respected and heard. The expectation of my team is that they never give up on the young person and that the care provided is bespoke and personalised to each individual.

Meaningful relationships are built in the home by staff spending quality time with Children and Young People, having one to one and group times via residents’ meetings, carrying out activities within and outside of the home and by sitting and eating dinner together. Our team will work with the young people to establish clear boundaries to ensure that SunnyBank is able to create a positive environment. Positive behaviours would be rewarded and meaningful sanctions will be placed as appropriate, according to each young person’s needs. The team will support the young person’s development of resilience, confidence, and independence in order to be able to achieve the best possible outcomes for the young person’s future and prepare them to become an independent adult.

My vision for SunnyBank is to be excellent at promoting positive changes into the young people’s lives. I will facilitate this by having tailored key work sessions that create targeted and structured work with the key objective, “to be able to achieve”. We will value our staff team as we recognise they are at the heart of the home. The quality of Staff recruitment will be key, everyone will be vetted carefully following the safer recruitment process. We will also promote staff growth ensuring everyone has a development plan and it will be the focal point of all supervisions.

All matters of Safeguarding are reported in a timely manner and all parties are made aware of the actions taken and outcomes.”
